課程概述(中文、英文) | ||||
n 工程領域的觀測或實驗資料常具有不確定性及變異性,需要以統計方法進行科學描述及分析。本課程的第一個目標是介紹一些統計學家基於機率原理及數學方法所發展出來用以處理隨機及不確定性資料的基本統計工具。課程的第二個目標是以實際環境工程與科學上的資料為例,讓同學了解如何以統計方法去收集、整理及分析資料,並在分析結果上做基本的預測及推論。雖然統計方法在環境工程及科學上的運用與其他領域沒有太大差異,但針對環工領域的資料特性,常用的統計方法與重要的主題會特別在這個課程加以強調。 n Statistics provide the engineers with analytical and descriptive methods for dealing with the uncertainty and variability in observed data. The first aim of this course is to introduce students to some fundamental tools that statisticians have developed to handle uncertainty and randomness. These tools are based on probability theory and mathematical methods for exhibiting predictable patterns in the analyzed data. Secondly, the other goal of this course is to teach students how to collect, analyze and explain data using the given statistical tools. Although the statistical methods for the field of environmental engineering and science are similar to those in other disciplines, some topics and examples that are relevant to environmental engineering and science will be highlighted in this course. | ||||
