教學內容

Course Description

  • The learning goal of this class:
  • The course is designed both for students studying general English and for those studying English with a view toward more academic work.  Students’ both language skills and critical thinking skills will also be strategically developed in this course.  Reading, listening, speaking, writing, and grammar are balanced and integrated throughout each unit in the course book.A variety of activities ensures the development of academic skills, such as summarizing, paraphrasing, making predictions, identifying gist, and using graphs to aid comprehension.The focus on essential critical thinking skills in this course encourages students’ independent thinking and learning.  These critical thinking skills include analyzing,  synthesizing, making inferences, understanding organization, comparing and contrasting, understanding point of view and drawing conclusions.Students taking this course should be aware that they are required to actively participate in classroom discussions and in-class quizzes, and take mid-term and final exams. At the end of this semester, every student needs to participate the making of a short English film with other teammates.

Classroom Regulations
1.   Attendance: Because class participation is important and new materials may be presented each session, you must attend every class. An excessive number of absences may result in a lowered grade or automatic withdrawal from the class. If you must be out for more than two classes, you should conference with me about your progress in the course. Attendance is taken at each class. Any unexcused absences will cost you 2 points (2%) for each absence. 每次上課都點名，無故曠課一次扣總平均2分，每人每學期可請一次事假（不用證明口頭請假即可） (根據成大學則學生無故曠課超過全學期課程九分之一{本課程為六小時}，該科目將予以扣考)全勤同學（沒有請過任何公病事假或沒有遲到紀錄者，總平均分數會另外加分）

2.     Lateness: If you are more than 15 minutes late for a class, you will be counted late. Two "lateness" will equal one absence.  Besides, you may also miss the quiz and lose your marks. That's double loss!.

3.     Quizzes: The quiz is designed to help you review the reading we've just discussed and also a bountiful offer to make up your marks.

4.      Honesty: A grade of "0" could be earned for plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty. （考試作弊者將以0分計算）

5.      學期總成績一經送出，無法更改，請同學考前加油，考後恕無法接受任何求情或請託，懇請銘記在心。

課程名稱： 992_大一英文＿唐遜宜老師(母課程)

 

根據2008年7月21日第十六次成鷹計畫會議進度報告決議，大一、二英文任課教師應將學生參與自學活動情形，納入學期成績計算, 以佔總分5%為準。

學生自學項目如下：

a. 成鷹電影欣賞、英語角、鷹視界演講，電子報投稿，語言中心多媒體中心自學等，學生應參與以上活動，各活動點數計算依照英語學習護照之規定，達到20分，即可獲得5%自學項目學期成績。

b. 投稿成功刊登於電子報者給予自學積分2分
